MarketSpecific Execution Requirements – Water/Wastewater

When assigned to water or wastewater projects, the General Superintendent supports field execution with heightened attention to processdriven construction and regulatory compliance. These requirements supplement—but do not alter—the core responsibilities and authority of the role.

- **Process Sensitivity:** Ensure site teams plan and execute work in accordance with process sequences (e.g., basins, clarifiers, aeration, disinfection, lift stations) to protect operational continuity and avoid contamination or service interruption.

- **Regulatory Awareness:** Reinforce compliance with applicable permits and environmental controls, including erosion/sediment control, dewatering discharge management, and containment plans as specified by the contract and authorities having jurisdiction.

- **TieIns & Shutdowns:** Establish standards for planning highrisk shutdowns and tieins, including isolation verification, lockout/tagout coordination, contingency plans, and communication protocols with owner operations.

- **Commissioning & Startup Readiness (Field):** Hold Superintendents accountable for physical readiness of systems for testing and startup (access, cleanliness, labeling, flushing, leak testing coordination, and safety controls). Commercial management of testing scope remains with the Project Manager.

- **Multiphase Turnover:** Standardize turnover packaging (asbuilt documentation from the field, redlines, prefunctional checks) to support phased commissioning and partial owner acceptance.

- **Trade Coordination:** Ensure Mechanical and Electrical Trade Superintendents align installation, terminations, instrument calibration access, and power availability to the agreed sequence and commissioning milestones.

- **Inspector & Operator Interface (Field):** Support a professional onsite interface with inspectors and plant operators for field readiness checks, while deferring commercial or contractual questions to the Project Manager.
